WordPlay Cincy's Girls 2020 Showcase

WordPlay Cincy has given the public a sneak peek into the process of young musicians ages 13 to 20. The budding artists are writing about the experience of growing up as a girl today and collaborating with professionals to prepare their stories for the stage. Their efforts, under the working title Girls 2020, will form the foundation of a production in the Cincinnati Opera’s annual CO Next: Diverse Voices series which is scheduled for summer 2020. The collaborative project is supported by WordPlay Cincy, the Cincinnati Opera, and the Music Resource Center, another local nonprofit. And not only are the girls sharing their stories—some of them will perform onstage or in the orchestra during the final production.
